ZOONO PRODUCTS FAQS
Zoono works by the formation of a mono-molecular layer of covalently bound biocidal molecules based around silicone polymer chemistry. When applied to a surface by spraying, wiping or ‘fogging’, Zoono leaves behind a mono-molecular layer that permanently bonds to the surface. Our water-based sanitisers add a long lasting antibacterial protective layer to hands and surfaces. Once dry, Zoono becomes active. It resembles a layer of microscopic pins that attract, pierce and kill pathogens and germs – the same principle as a pin popping a balloon. These molecules are antimicrobial, silane-based polymers that covalently bond to the surface forming a barrier of positively charged microscopic pins. The positively charged microscopic pins attract and pierce negatively charged pathogens. The pins rupture the cell walls. This causes the pathogen to break up with lethal effect. It is designed to help support routine hand washing and surface cleaning to provide enhanced protection in between.
Our products are made from 99% deionised water, 1% active ingredient – Quaternary Ammonium Compound. QAC is derived from a molecule of sand which goes through a synthetic process to activate it. Our products do not contain alcohol, phenoxyethanol, triclosan or fragrance.
Zoono can be used on all surfaces in the home. Follow the instructions on the label – use Zoono after your regular cleaning routine on clean, dry surfaces and allow approx. 10 minutes for drying. For commercial / technical applications, industry specific written protocols are recommended and are provided as required. Zoono is designed to be used alongside regular cleaning habits to provide enhanced protection in between.

But within high risk environments (Health Care etc), some professionals prefer to use GermFree24 more frequently.
Whilst all substances have a ‘toxicity’ level (even water), Zoono has a ‘toxicity rating’ similar to that of Vitamin C. So yes – Zoono can be safely used around people, pets and plants alike. Using hand sanitisers, usually containing alcohol (70% to 90%) and many other chemicals cause health problems and skin irritation, especially if you have sensitive skin, are asthmatic or suffer from eczema. Normal hand sanitisers kills germs and pathogens at the point of use and when wet. Once dry, they no longer work, and many don’t achieve the contact time stipulated in their laboratory tests. Traditional alcohol based hand sanitisers lasts only up to 7 minutes on our hands. ZOONO®’s protective shield has been proven to kill 99.9% of germs and pathogens such as Mould, Yeast, Fungi, Virus and Bacteria for up to 30 days on surfaces and up to 24 hours on the skin.
